Peter Grant - Trustee

Peter brings a wealth of professional and personal experience to Mahi Tahi. After a 26 year career in the army, reaching the rank of Lieutenant Colonel, Peter joined Ara Poutama | Department of Corrections. He subsequently worked as a regional manager and a prison manager at several locations over a 13 year period. Peter was instrumental in facilitating connections between Mahi Tahi and Ara Poutama, initially at Hawkes Bay Regional Prison when as the then Prison Manager he arranged for the Trust’s first wānanga to be delivered inside prison in 1995.

Since then, Peter’s relationship with Mahi Tahi has evolved working briefly in an operational leadership capacity, and more recently by way of two separate terms as a trustee since 2010.

In addition to his work with Mahi Tahi, Peter Chairs the Greendale Services Association Trust Fund, he is co-Chair for Napier’s Positive Aging Strategy Advisory Group, a kaiwhakamana for Ara Poutama, and he plays a key role in several community projects relating to ANZAC and military commemorations and legacy activities.
